Gatherings are kind of my thing. You should probably know that about me. From a simple dinner with friends to a full-blown girls’ game night, I am happiest when there is a table full of laughter, good conversation, a little food, and maybe a tablescape with just a touch too much foo-foo. Give me a theme, and I am going to make it fun. Then I played my first game of American Mahjong, and that was it. I fell in love with the gorgeous tiles, the beautiful mats, the strategy, the laughter, and most of all, the friendships that happen around the table. But I also remember how overwhelming it felt in the beginning. The tiles, the card, the rules, the strategy — it felt like learning a whole new language. I wanted a place to learn that felt fresh, welcoming, relaxed, and fun. A place where beginners didn’t feel intimidated and where the whole experience felt just as exciting as the game itself.I couldn’t quite find what I was looking for, so I decided to create it. And that is how The Pineapple Tile was born. The pineapple has always been a symbol of hospitality, and that is exactly the heart behind this business. I wanted to create a place where people could learn American Mahjong, meet new friends, gain confidence, and have the best time doing it.
